Brief Playing history: He began playing football as striker for Queen’s Park when he was just 16. He turned professional at Dunfermline Athtelicin 1964. He remained only 1 year here and he moved to Rangers the next year. He hasn’t done too well there, and he moved to Falkirk soon after. In the end, he finished his career at Ayr United in 1974.

Brief Management history: At the age of 32, he was appointed as manager for East Stirlingshire, where he gained a good reputation and soon moved to St. Mirren. He turned this small team into a really good won but hasn’t won any major trophees in the 4 years spent there. In 1978 he moved to Aberdeen, where he won Scottish League 3 times, Scottish Cup 4 times, Scottish League Cup once, European Cup Winners Cup and UEFA super cup. In his last years for the club, he was also named as coach for Scotland but soon after, in 1986 he moved to Manchester where he became one of the best managers in the world. He has won more trophees than any manager in English Football and he is the first manager who lead an English team to win a tremble. He won 9 times the Premier League, 5 FA Cups, twice the League Cup, 7 times the Community Shield, Uefa Cup winners Cup and Uefa super cup in 1991 and the tremble: Premier League, FA Cup, Uefa Champions League plus the Intercontinental Cup in 1999. He’s probably the manager that has received the biggest number of awards during his career.
