Arsenal was founded in 1886 as Dial Square by workers at the Royal Arsenal in Woolwich, but were renamed as Royal Arsenal after a short time. They started professional football in 1891 when they renamed themselves as Woolwich Arsenal. They won their promotion to English first Division in 1904 but, because they didn’t had a great geographic position, the attendences at games were really low and Arsenal was almost bankrupt in 1910. Then, they were taken over by Henry Norris, which decided to move the club in North London to the new Arsenal Stadium in Highbury and loose “Woolwich” from team’s name. After a short period spent in second division they rejoined First Division and haven’t been relegated since 1919.
They have won premier league 13 times, FA Cup 10 times, League Cup 2 times, they’ve been runners-up in Uefa Champions League Finals in 2006 and they’ve also won one European Cup Winner’s Cup and Uefa Super Cup in 1994. In 2003-2004, Arsenal had the longest unbeaten run ever in Premier League with 49 unbeaten league matches. Also, in 2005-2006 Uefa Champions League they set a new record by going 10 matches without conceding a goal, a total of 995 minutes.
