Brief Playing history: His football player career hasn’t been too successful. He started playing for a few amateur Clubs, but only in 1978 he turned professional when he made his debut in Ligue 1, playing for RC Strasbourg. He wasn’t a great player, but he contributed somehow to Ligue 1 Title obtained by Stasbourg in 1979.
Brief Management history: Wenger obtained his manager diploma in 1981 and soon after he started coaching Nancy but he didn’t had any major performances. In 1987 his career took off when he signed AS Monaco. In his first season he managed to lead them to Ligue 1 Title and soon after, in 1991 he also won the French Cup. In 1994, after a bad season start he moved to Japan to coach Nagoya Grampus Eight. He spent almost 1 year and a half coaching the team and he helped them win the national cup. In 1996, he was appointed as manager at Arsenal and in his second season, in 1998, the team won a double, the premiership and FA Cup. Until today, he has won 3 times the Premier League with Arsenal, 4 times FA Cup, 4 times the Community Shield and they were once runner ups in Champions League and Uefa Cup. Arsene Wenger was declared Manager of the Year 5 times, once in Japan and France, and 3 times in England.
