Aston Villa is based in Aston, Birmingham. The club was founded in 1874 and they started playing at the current stadium, Villa Park, from 1897. They were one of the founding members of Football League in 1888 and the Premier League in 1992. In 2006 the club was bought by Randy Lerner which wants to make from Aston Villa a top brittish club.
Being one of the oldest clubs from England, Aston Villa managed to win 7 times first division Championships and 7 times the FA Cup. If we are judging by club honours, Aston Villa is the 4th most successful club in England because they’ve won 21 major honours, even though most of these were won before world war 2. In 1982 they managed to win the European Cup and their latest trophee has been won in 1996.
Until now, Aston Villa have spent 98 seasons in top-flight, being the second club after Everton with the longest time in the top-flight. As a result, the game between Aston Villa and Everton is the most played game from English Premiership ever. Aston Villa also holds the record for most goals scored in one season, even though it was in the 1930-31 season, they managed to score 128 goals
