Since 1905, when they were founded, Chelsea spent most of their history in the top tier of English Football. They had 2 periods of success, one in the early 70s and one from the late 90s to the present day and they have won three league titles, four FA Cups, 4 League Cups and 2 Uefa Cup Winner’s Cup. Chelsea’s traditional kit colours are royal blue and white. From 1953. their crest has a ceremonial blue lion holding a staff and has been slightly modified in 2005, their centenary year.
In 2003, Russian billionaire Roman Abramovici bought Chelsea for £140 million, and invested another 100 million in new players and appointed Jose Mourinho as coach. In 2005, in the year when Chelsea was celebrating it’s centenary, they became Premier League Champions after a record braking run: most points earned, fewest goals conceded, most victories, most clean sheets. They’ve also won League Cup and managed to get into champions league Semi-finals. In 2006, they managed to equalize their record of 29 wins in Premier League and they became champions again.
On 20 September 2007, after 3 years when he became the coach that won the most titles with Chelsea, Jose Mourinho parted the company with Chelsea and he was replaced by Avram Grant.
