Description: Adebayor began playing football from an early age in Lome and he was spotted by a scout from FC Metz when he had less than 15 years old. In 1999, he signed with FC Metz and started playing for the U-17 team for two years and in 2001 when he turned professional for Metz. A year later, when Metz was in second French division he scored 17 goals in 35 matches and a lot of teams were interested in buying him and he signed with AS Monaco. There, he helped them to reach the Champions League and in 2006 he signed with Arsenal for about £3 million. His debut at Arsenal was really great in just 21 minutes after he started playing for the team he managed to score his first goal in a match against Birmingham City. In almost 2 years for Arsenal he played 65 matches and scored 30 goals for the club. At international level, Adebayor was the one that took Togo to the 2006 World Cup, after he scored more goals than any other player in African Qualifiers. He was also nominated as African Player of the Year.
