Description: Fratton Park has four, all seated stands. The largest and most modern of them is the Fratton End. On each side of the pitch there are two tiered stands called North and South Stands and, in the eastern end of the stadium it’s the smallest stand called Milton End. This was the only roofless stand in Premier League until 2007 when they’ve built a roof for this stand too.
Brief History: The stadium is currently the smallest stadiums from Premier League. Built in 1898 by the great football architect Archibald Leitch, the stadium hosted one England internation match and also a couple of England U-21 internationals. The ground has been home for Portsmouth in the club’s entire history and despite a couple of improvements over the years, the stadium still looks pretty old and out of shape. Therefore, after the club has shown that they could stay in Premier League and do well each season, they’ve started plans for a new stadium because the Fratton’s Park capacity can’t be bigger than this. In 2007, the new owner announced that he’s planning to build a new stadium with a capacity of 36,000 all-seated close to Portsmouth Naval Base.
