Description: The stadium has a capacity of 51,082 all seated and it has four stands. All stands. To the east of the stadium it’s the Copland Stand, which was completed in 1979 and can hold about 8,000 people. To the western side of the ground, there’s another stand almost identical as the Copland, called the Broomloan which was completed in 1980. In 1981, a third stand was completed with a design similar to Copland and Broomloan. The new stand was called the Govan and it’s a two tier stand that could hold upto 11,000 people. The oldest stand is from 1929 and it’s called the Bill Struth Main Stand. It’s capacity is almost 21,500 seats. Ibrox Stadium has a great architecture and it’s South Stand, now named Bill Sruth Main Stand is listed as a category B building.
Brief History: Built in 1899, Ibrox stadium is the place where Rangers had their biggest successes. In 1939, at Ibrox, there was a record assistance of 118,567- this is the record attendance for a league match in Britain. There were 2 major disasters and the stadium’s capacity had to be reduced to ensure spectators’ security but it’s still one of the biggest stadiums from the United Kingdom.
