Wigan Athletic
Name: JJB Stadium
Nickname: The JJB
When Built: 1999
Capacity: 25,135
Record Attendance: 25,023 – February 11, 2006 – Wigan Athletic vs Liverpool

Description: The JJB is an all seater arena with a seating capacity of 25,125. It has four stands named after the compass directions. The biggest stand is the East Stand with 8,230 seats while the other stands are smaller, about 5-6,000 each one: West Stand (6,096 seats), South Stand (5,399), North Stand (5,413). The pitch is really good and at this stadium you could also see Wigan Warrior play (rugby).

Brief History: JJB Stadium was built in 1999 by Alfred McAlpine and had a great inauguration match with Manchester United, that were recently crowned as European Champions. Sir Alex Ferguson officially opened the stadium but only until recently, in these last years when the club gained promotion to Premier League, there were major games played here. In 2005, the club had some problems with local police and the policemen said that they’ll stop policing Wigan matches. This was certainly a drawback for the club but they’ve solved all problems and now everything is fine when they play on this stadium in the Premier League.
