Brief Playing history: He started professional football at the highest level playing as a striker for Manchester United in the 80s. He signed with them in 1980 but he didn’t make it to the first team only in 1983. In ’86 he moved to Barcelona for a transfer fee of £2 million but he hasn’t been too successful there and after a quick loan at Bayern Munchen he came back to Manchester United where he won twice the Premier League, 3 FA Cups, once the English League Cup and European Cup Winners Cup. In 1995 he moved to Chelsea where he won a couple of trophees and in 1998 he went to Southampton. He ended his professional footballer career in 2002 at Blackburn Rovers after helping them to win the League Cup.
Brief Management history: He started coaching Wales’ International team in 1999 but he hasn’t been too successful with the team and in 2004 he signed with the team where he ended his football player career. In his first season his job was to avoid relegation but in the second season spent with the club, he managed to amaze everyone and finished 6th in the Premier League, qualifying the team for UEFA cup.
