Brief Playing history: He started professional football in 1971 but only in 1975 he began playing at top level when he was made a key player at Nottingham Forest by his new manager. He was playing as midfielder and he had a great role in Nottingham’s Golden era. He helped the team to gained promotion, win the league and twice the league cup, twice the European Cup and once the European Super Cup. Soon after, he moved to Norwich, Manchester City and he ended his career in 1985 at Notts County.

Brief Management history: He began his coaching career in 1987 at Grantham Town but his coaching performances came in 1995 when he signed with Leicester. After a slow start, he took the team into Premiership, and each year when he was manager, the team finished in top10. Also, with Leicester he has won twice the English League Cup. In 2000, he moved to Celtic where he won 3 times the Scottish Premier League championship, 3 times the Scottish Cup and once the Scottish League Cup. In 2006 he was appointed as manager for Aston villa.
