Description:
The stadium’s costruction costed £60m GBP and it’s one of the biggest stadiums from United Kingdom. In 2000-2001 they’ve redeveloped the East Stand and in the North Stand, the stadium has a great museum that’s visited by over 200,000 people each year. Uefa has given the stadium 5-star rating and that makes it one of the nicest from Europe and the only one from England with this rating.
Brief History: Manchester United plays here from 1910 with a short 8 year break when the stadium was bombed during the second world war (between 1941-1949). Sir Bobby Charlon, one of Manchester’s legends named the stadium The Theatre of Dreams. During time, the stadium has hosted several events, but probably the most important are: 1966 World Cup, Euro 1996 matches and 2003 Uefa Champions League Finals. Here, Manchester United has become one of the most successful clubs in Europe. The stadium capacity has evolved in time, probably the last expansion was a couple of years ago, when they’ve added 8,000 seats to north-west and north-east quadrants of the ground. With it’s new capacity, the stadium beat Premier League record attendance in 2006, when Manchester United beat Blackburn Rovers with 4-1. Old Trafford is the 36th largest stadium in the world and 12th largest from Europe.
