Brief Playing history: He wasn’t a too great player and he only played for teams in lower Spanish leagues as Midfielder. He started professional football in 1974 at Castilla in Segunda Disivion and he finished it in 1986 at Linares.
Brief Management history: He started coaching in 1986 youth teams for Castilla and Real Madrid and he moved to senior squads in 1995. His first years coaching at high-level were pretty bad and at his first 2 teams coached he has been sacked after a few games. In 1997, he moved to Extramadura in Spanish Second Division and led them to promotion. In 2000 he moved to Tenerife in Spanish Second Division and he led them to promotion tool. In 2001 he was appointed as Valencia’s coach and in his first season he managed to win Primera Division with them. In 2004, it was probably his best year at Valencia, winning Spanish Primera and Uefa Cup in the same year. In 2004, he moved to Liverpool where he won Uefa Champions League from his first season here after a brilliant match against Milan. He has also won the Fifa world Cup championships, and once the FA Cup and Community Shield.
