Brief Playing history: His playing career was unremarkable. He started playing in 1966 as a right back for Torsby IF, changed his team 5 years later, and in 1975 he finished his footballer career at KB Karlkoga, after playing 9 years only in Sweden
Brief Management history: His manager career is very long and full of successes. He started coaching in 1977 at Degerfors IF and managed to win promotion with them. This success took him to sign with IFK Goteborg. Here, from his first season he won the Cup and in 1982 he won a tremble: Swedish league, Swedish Cup and UEFA Cup. After this major success a lot of clubs from Europe wanted him but he signed with Benfica where he made almost same performances: He won Portughese League, the Cup from Portugal and almost won the UEFA cup but his team finished only as runners-up. In 1984 he left Portugal for Italy, where he coached AS Roma and Fiorentina. He only won a cup with AS Roma and returned to Benfica to win again 2 championships and taking them to European Cup finals. In 1992, he went back to Italy where he managed to win another Cup with Sampdoria and in 1997 he moved to Lazio were he had a lot of successes. In 2001 he was appointed as England’s coach but he didn’t won any major trophee with England and from 2006 he signed with Manchester City.
